The Pennsylvania Wireless Association is pleased to announce its third annual Utility Telecom Forum event on 26 & 27 January 2011 will again be hosted at the beautiful Hershey Lodge in Hershey PA.
Why attend the PWA Utility Telecom Forum 2011 / Smart Grid?
The Utility Telecom Forum meets at the intersection of telecom & utilities. This safe setting promotes understanding of and amongst the competing priorities that arise from market innovation with IP communications technologies, and a changing regulatory environment. The forum explores the legislation, market forces and technology that behind the concept of the Smart Grid; examines strategies to address the practical issues arising from deployment, and the emerging business opportunities for infrastructure owners, OEMs, consultants and constructors. Our goal is to help define the Smart Grid, and to address how utilities & carriers will deploy telecom-based solutions to not only make their grid smarter, but to enable the Smart Home and enable a new generation of revenue-generating services.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner Marc Spitzer
Marc Spitzer was nominated by President George W. Bush to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a term expiring June 30, 2011. Commissioner Spitzer believes the FERC’s primary missions are to ensure that America’s ratepayers have safe, economic, and reliable supplies of electricity and natural gas; and transparent, robust and competitive wholesale energy markets. Wayne E. Gardner Commissioner Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission Wayne E. Gardner was confirmed unanimously by the Pennsylvania Senate on June 30, 2008. Since joining the PUC Commissioner Gardner has focused on reliability, price competitiveness, security of supply, and customer service for the consumers and utilities of the Commonwealth, as well as other policies as developed by the legislature and specifically Act 129. Commissioner Gardner serves on the board of directors for the Environmental Quality Board, the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (MACRUC), and the Electricity Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (NARUC). Katherine Hamilton President GridWise Alliance GridWise Alliance is a consortium of over 90 organizations advocating for a smarter grid for the public good. We operate on a consensus basis with all members having an equal voice. We advocate not for particular technologies but for a smarter grid from a holistic level--from power plant all the way to meter and load center. Glen Pritchard Principal Engineer Smart Grid Exelon (PECo) Mr. Pritchard, PE, a principal engineer at Exelon Corp./PECO, has worked for the utility for 17 years. He is responsible for developing new applications that leverage advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems and metering data. He specializes in finding new applications of existing and emerging technology. Mr. Pritchard is currently focusing on smart metering and the integration of AMI and distribution automation systems into a Smart Grid solution. Mr. Pritchard recently received the 2008 Utilimetrics Ed Malemezian Utility Professional Best Practices Award for his work in the AMI field. His experience includes distribution, transmission, substation automation and communications. Mr. Pritchard has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania.

David Turner COO Tangent Energy Dave Turner is an energy and utility industry executive with more than twenty five years of utility industry experience in managing operations, planning, and information technology projects and organizations. Most recently, Dave was responsible for developing Accenture'sT&D BPO services as well as providing T&D business process, AMI and Smart Grid business case, and strategic planning consulting support to Accenture’s utility clients.
